AP23485959 “Climate-Induced Migration in Kazakhstan: Understanding Implications and Enhancing Adaptation Strategies”.

As part of the implementation of the research project IRN AP23485959 “Climate Migration in Kazakhstan: Understanding the Consequences and Improving Adaptation Strategies,” an international scientific and practical conference entitled “GLOBAL TRANSFORMATIONS OF CONTEMPORARY SOCIETY: CLIMATE CHANGE, MIGRATION, AND STRATEGIES FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT” was held on April 28–29, 2026. The aim of the conference was to create an interdisciplinary academic platform for discussing current issues related to climate change, migration processes, sustainable development, and society’s adaptation to contemporary ecological challenges. The conference brought together Kazakhstani and international scholars, experts, lecturers, and young researchers. The participants included representatives of the University of Zurich, Lund University, the GEO Knowledge Hub, Eötvös Loránd University, as well as the UNESCO Regional Office in Almaty. During the conference, participants discussed issues of climate migration, legal regulation of migration processes, ecological vulnerability of the population, gender mobility, changes in climate zones, and sustainable development strategies in the context of global transformations of modern society. The international conference contributed to the exchange of academic ideas, the strengthening of academic cooperation, and the development of new research initiatives in the fields of climate migration, sustainable development, and social adaptation.
