AP23485959 “Climate-Induced Migration in Kazakhstan: Understanding Implications and Enhancing Adaptation Strategies”.

On March 15–16, 2026, Daniya Nurmukhankyzy, Head of the Office of the Chairman of the Management Board – Rector of Zhetysu University named after I. Zhansugurov, Associate Professor of the Department of Legal Disciplines, Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), participated in an international scientific workshop organized by Lund University and conducted research within the thematic scope of the scientific project. The scientific trip was carried out within the framework of the scientific project IRN AP23485959 “Climate Migration in Kazakhstan: Understanding the Consequences and Improving Adaptation Strategies”, funded by the Science Committee of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan. During the trip, Daniya Nurmukhankyzy participated in the international workshop “Legal Design for Good Governance: Lessons from Central Asia” and presented a report titled “State Policy on Climate Migration: International Approaches and Kazakhstan’s Experience”. The workshop addressed issues related to the legal regulation of climate migration, adaptation to climate change, and the application of good governance and legal design principles in Central Asian countries. The materials obtained, the results of scientific discussions, and the conducted research will be used in the preparation of scientific publications, analytical conclusions, and practical recommendations aimed at improving the state policy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the field of migration and adaptation to climate change.
