Social support

  • At Zhetysu University n.a. I. Zhansugurov, social work and youth policy are regulated by two key documents approved by the Chair of the Board–Rector on October 14, 2024: the Youth Policy (IRD-ZU-20-01) and the Social Policy (IRD-ZU-13-01).
  • The purpose of social work is to coordinate university-led social initiatives, foster the civic, patriotic, and national values of individuals, and contribute to the formation of a culturally developed, highly professional, modern, and competitive specialist. It also aims to promote the implementation of the state youth policy and to encourage active participation of students in public life.
  • Within the framework of social work implementation for first-year students in 2025, the university provided the following support measures:
  • 20 students received free meal vouchers at the university cafeteria;
  • 20 students from socially vulnerable groups were provided with free accommodation in university dormitories;
  • Approximately 200 million KZT were allocated for social incentives to academic and administrative staff;
  • About 50 million KZT were allocated for social support of students;
  • More than 5 million KZT were allocated for the implementation of educational and upbringing activities;
  • Full support was provided for inclusive education (covering 57 students);
  • Two sociological surveys were conducted, covering more than 2,000 students;
  • 34 students received a 15% tuition discount;
  • 8 “Kazakhstan Khalkyna” (To the People of Kazakhstan) grants were awarded;
  • 6 university grants were issued, including 3 PhD grants and 5 Ministry of Defense grants;
  • Comprehensive access was ensured to the sports and wellness facilities (swimming pool, gym, and sports hall), with activities carried out across 10 sports sections.
  • According to the results of monitoring conducted in the 2024–2025 academic year:
  • The overall satisfaction level of students and faculty with the university’s operations reached 92.3%;
  • The level of conditions created for inclusive education amounted to 81.2%;
  • The satisfaction level of students and staff with the quality of educational services and the university ecosystem was 86%;
  • The share of students engaged in public activities reached 57.7%;
  • The share of official document circulation in the state language was 80.9%;
  • The share of dissertations defended in the state language reached 55%;
  • Within the framework of the National Values Concept, an ethno-village was established;
  • As part of the implementation of the social policy, student recreation areas were created.
