On October 18, 2024y. Araigul Kairbek, a lecturer at the Department of Foreign Languages and Translation Studies at the I.Zhansugurov Zhetysu University, a graduate of the “Bolashak” program who studied in Ohio conducted a seminar for the faculty of the department on the topic “Effective Assessment: Types, Rubrics, and Grading”.
The main purpose of the seminar was to improve the methods of evaluating teachers, clarify the evaluation criteria, as well as to explain how to effectively use headings and evaluation methods for an objective assessment of students’ knowledge. During the seminar, Araigul Kairbek stressed the importance of assessment methods in the modern education system. She spoke in detail about the traditional types of assessment, as well as about the methods of formative and summative assessment, explaining their role in the educational process. The participants shared their experience in improving the assessment system and discussed how the use of headings can improve student learning outcomes. At the end of the seminar, the teachers considered ways to improve the assessment process and developed headings and assessment methods that can be applied in their disciplines.
