On October 7-13, the Croatian city of Porech hosted the World Freestyle Wrestling Championship among veterans. In the competition, the coach of the Sports Club of Zhetysu University named after I. Zhansugurov Kanat Shonyrakov took the second place in the weight category of 70 kg.
Today, the staff and students of the University held a special meeting, paying tribute to the silver medalist Kanat Uzakuly. Member of the board-vice-rector for Social Work and youth policy Bolat Seriev thanked Kanat Shonyrakov for defending the honor of the country at the world championship and glorifying the Zhetysu region.
“Within the walls of the University, Kanat Uzakovich prepared many Asian champions, winners and prize-winners of the championship of the Republic of Kazakhstan. He is a graduate of Zhetysu University. Master of sports in freestyle wrestling, coach of the highest category, an athlete who makes a great contribution to the development of freestyle wrestling at the University”,-said the vice-rector.
Member of the board of Veterans Duysen Ansabayev read poems and gave a blessing to the winner, chairman of the board of aksakals Amangeldy Katenov, Nurlan Akashev, chairman of the Sports Club Berik Bitleuov expressed warm wishes. Colleagues and students of Kanat Uzakovich also took part in the meeting and congratulated the athlete.
At the end of the event, Vice-Rector Bolat Abduldaevich awarded the silver medalist with the medal “for achievements in sports”.
