AP19676696 Development of a methodology for the formation and development of mathematical literacy among schoolchildren in the context of PISA research
ABOUT THE SCIENTIFIC PROJECT:
- Project name:
Development of a methodology for the formation and development of mathematical literacy among schoolchildren in the context of PISA research
- The purpose of the project: Development of methodological foundations for teaching schoolchildren to solve practice-oriented problems, the formation and development of their thinking skills in the context of PISA research.
- Objectives:
– conducting a meaningful analysis of research works within the framework of the OECD (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development) program concept “The Future of Education and Skills: Education 2030”;
– conducting a comparative analysis of the work experience of mathematics teachers in the framework of the formation and development of mathematical literacy among schoolchildren;
– conducting a meaningful analysis of textbooks in mathematics in the context of the formation and development of mathematical literacy among schoolchildren;
– conducting an experimental study in order to identify emerging problems in teaching schoolchildren to solve practice-oriented problems in the context of the PISA-2021 program concept;
– establishing the type of practice-oriented task in accordance with mental activity, formulated in the program concept of PISA-2021;
– identifying signs of the formation of mathematical literacy of schoolchildren in the context of the PISA-2021 program concept;
– development of a method for reducing practice-oriented problems to assessment-training mathematical assignment in the context of PISA examination assignments;
– development of assessment and training tasks and assignments of various types in accordance with the being formed thinking skills of the 21st century;
– choice (or development, or modification) of an innovative method of teaching schoolchildren to solve practice-oriented problems in the context of the PISA-2021 program concept;
– development of a methodology for the pedagogical measurement of the results of schoolchildren’s learning of assessment tasks solving PISA as part of the criteria-based assessment of students’ educational achievements;
– training teachers of mathematics in methods of teaching schoolchildren to solve mathematical problems and assignments in the context of the PISA-2021 program concept
– carrying out experimental work to determine the effectiveness of the developed methodology for teaching 15-year-old of the schoolchildren to solve PISA tasks;
– mathematical processing of the results of experimental research;
– generalization of the results of the pilot study, development of conclusions and recommendations.
- The idea of the project:
Schoolchildren of the Republic of Kazakhstan since 2009 have been constantly participating in the international assessment of knowledge and skills under the PISA program. The results of these exams revealed the problem of developing mathematical literacy among schoolchildren of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The insufficient development of approaches to solving this problem led to the choice of the topic of the research project: “Development of a methodology for the formation and development of mathematical literacy among schoolchildren in the context of PISA research.”
- Expected results:
As a result of the project implementation, a methodology for teaching schoolchildren to solve PISA tasks in mathematics will be developed. A methodology for the pedagogical measurement of the results of schoolchildren’s learning to solving PISA assessment tasks as part of the criteria-based assessment of students’ educational achievements will be developed. The results of a pedagogical experiment to determine the effectiveness of the methodology for teaching schoolchildren to solve PISA tasks in mathematics will be described.
Will be published:
– at least 1 (one) article or review in a peer-reviewed scientific publication indexed in the Social Science Citation Index, Arts and Humanities Citation Index and (or) the Web of Science database and (or) having a CiteScore percentile in the Scopus database of at least 35 ( thirty five)
– as well as at least 2 (two) articles and (or) reviews in peer-reviewed foreign and (or) domestic publications recommended by the COKOSNVO;
– or at least 1 (one) article or review in a peer-reviewed scientific publication, indexed in the Social Science Citation Index and included in the 1st (first) or 2nd (second) quartile by impact factor in the Web of Science database and (or) having a percentile at least 65 (sixty-five) according to CiteScore in the Scopus database;
– either at least 2 (two) articles and (or) reviews in peer-reviewed scientific publications indexed in the Arts and Humanities Citation Index of the Web of Science database.
The theoretical significance of the study is as follows:
– based on the results of the study, a methodology for teaching 15-year-old of the schoolchildren to solve PISA tasks will be developed;
– the theoretical foundations for the formation and development of mathematical literacy among schoolchildren will be formulated.
The practical significance of the study is as follows:
– the new knowledge gained will contribute to the improvement of the professional qualifications of teachers, future teachers of mathematics, the growth of the scientific potential of the teaching staff of the university;
– based on the results of the study, practice-oriented mathematical problems will be developed, assessment- training tasks to these problems in the context of the PISA-2021 program concept.
– the results of the study can be used by mathematics teachers in the process of teaching schoolchildren to solve practice-oriented problems in the context of the PISA-2021 program concept.
