LABORATORY OF ECOLOGY

The purpose of laboratory of ecology – The purpose of the ecology laboratory is to conduct fundamental and applied scientific research (R&D), taking into account the priority areas of development of production, science and education in the Almaty region and their introduction into the educational process of Zhetysu University named after I.Zhansugurov.

Objective
  • Space monitoring of natural processes and environmental phenomena of the Almaty region.
  • Space monitoring of the influence of climatic conditions on the development of vegetation.
  • Space monitoring of the irrigated farming system for the introduction of a landscape-adapted farming system (ALSZ).
  • Installation of an online application for space monitoring and assessment of humidity on the soil surface and in the root zone, based on the ratio of the volume of moisture in the soil and the total volume of soil.
  • Processing of spatio-temporal data on the level of degradation of vegetation cover, based on tracking the dynamics of the long-term value of the normalized differentiated vegetation index (NDVI).
  • Processing of spatio-temporal data on the level of soil degradation and erosion based on tracking the dynamics of the transformed soil vegetation Index (TSAVI).
  • Processing of spatio-temporal data of drought and aridity of the climate, based on tracking the dynamics of the long-term value of the normalized differentiated soil moisture index (NDWI).
  • Processing of spatio-temporal snow cover data, based on tracking the dynamics of the long-term value of the normalized differentiated snow index (NDSI).
  • Satellite spatial data analytics for small and medium-sized businesses, focused on the development and management of solutions based on artificial intelligence and data processing in a wide range of applications.
  • The introduction of satellite spatial data analytics based on artificial intelligence in agriculture, forestry and the ecological tourism industry, with the aim of sustainable and stable development of these sectors of the economy.
  • Installation of multifunctional digital platforms (for example: EOS, LandViewer, Group Monitoring, Analytics-Time series, Monitoring, etc.) to stabilize the environmental situation in order to save resources, time and funding, decision-making and other forecasts.
  • Participation in the training of students, undergraduates, doctoral students in the organization of the educational process, as well as in the professional development of scientific and pedagogical staff of ZHU.
Feature
  • The work of the laboratory is based on the study of natural and anthropogenic environmental factors, monitoring, analytics, creation of GIS objects of research, creation of a spatial and temporal database and mapping of the results of work on ArcGIS for the purpose of sustainable and stable development of agricultural, industrial and other industries (forestry, ecological tourism) of the Almaty region.
