On June 23, 2023, a visiting scientist from Lund University (Sweden), researcher Sherzod Eraliev held a training seminar for young scientists and doctoral students of Zhetysu university on the theme “How to avoid publication in predatory journals”. The seminar participants got acquainted with the concept of “predatory journals”, with the way to recognize them and the main signs of opportunistic publishers and how publication in predatory journals can harm the reputation of a scientist. The audience received answers to questions on how to distinguish reputable publishers from predatory magazines, what is “golden open access” and other questions.
