Today, the Zhetysu University named after Ilyas Zhansugurov hosted a Judo wrestling competition among students. The sports event was organized on the initiative of the Department of Physical Culture and Sports of the University in order to increase students’ interest in sports and promote a healthy lifestyle.
Five faculties and more than twenty young athletes from the college took part in the competition. It is worth noting that the bronze medalist of the Sydney Olympics, Aydin Smagulov, who came to the event as a special guest, made a congratulatory speech and wished success to the younger generation. Spectacular fights on a narrow carpet, held in the main building of the university, made a special sensation on the audience. As a result, the main prize in the 100 kg category was won by a student of the Journalism department of the Humanities faculty of the ZhK 411 group Sanjar Sultangazy.
At the end of the ceremony, the winners were awarded a special letter of thanks, a valuable gift, and the Chairman of the Board was awarded a Rector’s Cup.
