Today, a regional roundtable was held at the Zhetysu University named after I. Zhansugurov as part of the Year of Working Professions. The roundtable was opened by the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Sayasat Nurbek, who gave an introductory speech.
“2025 has been declared the Year of Working Professions. This initiative by the Head of State is the great importance for the socio-economic development of our country,” – emphasized the Minister. He also highlighted the significance of training professionals that meet the needs of the labor market and society, as well as the importance of early career orientation.
The roundtable was attended by the Deputy Akim of Zhetysu Region, Marlen Kolbaev, the Deputy Head of the Education Department of Zhetysu Region, Ali Soltanbekov, the head of the “Mamandygym – Bolashagym” office, Olzhas Sakenov, the directors of regional colleges, and media representatives.
The Chairman of the Board – Rector of Zhetysu University, Ermek Buribaev, emphasized that one of the goals of the “Mamandygym – Bolashagym” project is early career orientation for students.
“In 2023, a regional project office was established at Zhetysu University, and the university staff underwent a course on foresight research methodology. They developed a regional map of the shortage of specialists in Zhetysu Region and identified five priority areas for the region,” noted the rector, expressing gratitude to the directors of colleges who participated in developing the regional map as industry experts.
During the event, the regional map of the demand for specialists in Zhetysu Region was presented, developed in collaboration with local authorities as part of the “Mamandygym – Bolashagym” project.
