Chairman of the Board — Rector Yermek Buribayev wished the athletes success in the upcoming competition and ceremoniously handed over the university flag to the team captain, Altay Kalkaman, a second-year student of the Faculty of Physical Education and Arts.
“Students of Zhetysu University consistently achieve outstanding results in sports. Last year, our students won 26 gold, 20 silver, and 10 bronze medals at World, Asian, International, and National Championships. We are proud of such athletes who bring honor to our university. Today, we are gathered with the very best — and we believe in you!” the rector emphasized.
Honorary professor of Zhetysu University and veteran educator Bolat Moldabekov gave his blessings to the students, while Kanat Shonyrakov, an Honored Coach of the Republic of Kazakhstan, wished them success in their competitions.
In response, the athletes promised to return with medals from the Universiade, which will take place in the spiritual capital of the Turkic world — Turkistan.
Zhetysu University will compete in 11 sports disciplines: athletics, togyzqumalaq, basketball, volleyball, judo, taekwondo, freestyle wrestling, Greco-Roman wrestling, boxing, and futsal.
