A seminar titled “Prospective Areas of Cooperation in Education and Science” was held at Zhetysu University, with participation from representatives of the University of Camerino — Dr. Moira Aureli, Prof. Emanuele Tondi, Prof. Carlo Lucheroni, and Prof. Francesco Casale — as well as the Chairman of the Board and Rector of Zhetysu University, Yermek Buribayev.
As part of the seminar, Dr. Moira Aureli, a representative from the International Relations Department of the University of Camerino, delivered a presentation on “Erasmus Mobility for Internships: UNICAM.” UNICAM Vice-Rector Prof. Emanuele Tondi and Dr. Tiziano Volatili gave insightful talks on scientific developments in geology and the oil industry, sharing their professional experiences. Prof. Carlo Lucheroni introduced the audience to the activities of the Department of Science and Technology at the University of Camerino. Additionally, Prof. Francesco Casale from the Faculty of Law presented on the topic “Artificial Intelligence and Higher Education: Technology Transfer.”
The guests from Italy were introduced to the academic and research landscape of Zhetysu University by Talgat Kulibayev, Director of the Center for International Cooperation. During the seminar, the two parties discussed potential areas for collaboration, including the joint implementation of the Erasmus+ program, the launch of dual-degree programs, and the promotion of academic mobility.
“Zhetysu University is one of only five universities in Central Asia participating in the Erasmus+ international program that we coordinate under the ‘5+1’ model. Our main objective is to develop the most effective mechanisms for collaboration in the fields of education and science, and to broaden the scope of mutually beneficial partnerships. This visit to Zhetysu University was organized specifically to explore its infrastructure and establish stronger connections with its academic community,” noted Prof. Emanuele Tondi, Vice-Rector of the University of Camerino.
Following the seminar, the Italian delegation visited modern research laboratories located at the branch of the Marche Polytechnic University. They were also shown the technological capabilities of the Speed Breeding project and the university’s STEM laboratories.
It is worth noting that in the summer of the previous year, Zhetysu University signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the University of Camerino and reached an agreement to implement the Erasmus+ program under Key Action 171.
As part of this collaboration, Zhetysu University master’s student Iliyar Abdukhairov is currently undertaking a study program at the University of Camerino from March to July 2025. Additionally, under the Erasmus+ program, Dr. Flavio Stimilli from the University of Camerino is delivering lectures and practical sessions for students on the subject “Ecological Design Methods.”
