On September 8, 2025, the Center for Open Education officially opened at Zhetysu University named after Ilyas Zhansugurov in Taldykorgan. The Center is set to become an important hub for strengthening educational cooperation and fostering intercultural dialogue between countries.
With the support of the “My History” Foundation for the Humanities and the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation, more than 400 participants in Kazakhstan will have the chance in 2025 to immerse themselves in the study of the Russian language and culture, broadening their horizons and opening new opportunities for collaboration.
The opening ceremony was attended by Dmitry Aleksandrovich Turaev, Consul General of Russia in Almaty, his Deputy Andrey Vladimirovich Konstantinov, and Maria Sergeevna Simakova, Deputy Head of the Rossotrudnichestvo Representative Office in Kazakhstan.
In his welcoming remarks, Consul General Turaev noted:
“Today we are laying the cornerstone for the future, where the Word will be the highest value. The Russian word, which for centuries has served as a bridge connecting destinies, cultures, and peoples across the vast expanse of Eurasia”.
One of the most anticipated initiatives was the launch of the educational project “Russian Language School for Students of Kazakhstani Universities – Learning from the Greats”.
From September 8 to 11, 2025, students of Zhetysu University specializing in Russian language will take part in a rich and diverse program on methods of teaching Russian as a foreign language. Highlights include:
- Training session: “How to Organize a Russian as a Foreign Language Lesson: Key Requirements and Best Practices”
- Pedagogical quest: “Through the Labyrinths of the Russian Language”
- Training with a film screening: “Cinemapedagogy: What Can a Movie Teach in the Classroom?”
- Master classes:
“Using Digital Resources in Russian Language Teaching”
“Game-Based Learning in the Russian Language Classroom”
And this is just the beginning. Participants will gain even more hands-on experience, build new connections, and discover practical insights that will help them grow into confident professionals and apply their skills with success.
