As part of the project “An Integrative Study of Gambling Addiction in Kazakhstan and Multidisciplinary Strategies for Its Reduction”, students of Zhetysu University named after Ilyas Zhansugurov met with Galym Myrzakhmetov, Deputy Head of the Taldykorgan City Police Department. The meeting was moderated by Vice-Rector for Social Work and Youth Policy Bolat Seriev, who emphasized its importance.
“Unfortunately, our country is witnessing a growing number of young people suffering from gambling addiction. This dependence significantly affects students’ academic performance: they lose interest in their studies and fail to devote proper attention to their education. To prevent the spread of this harmful habit, we systematically carry out preventive measures against gambling addiction,” noted the Vice-Rector.
Galym Myrzakhmetov, Deputy Head of the Taldykorgan City Police Department, spoke in detail to the youth about how gambling addiction can lead to unlawful behavior. He also answered students’ questions regarding gambling and urged young people to stay away from harmful habits.
