The round table

A round table discussion on “Trends and Prospects for the Integration and Social Adaptation of People with Disabilities” was held at I. Zhansugurov Zhetysu University. It was organized as part of the targeted funding program from the Science Committee of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan under topic BR24993150 “Organization of psychological and pedagogical support for pre-vocational training of students with disabilities”

The event was attended by representatives of the Public Council of the CIS Basic Organization for the training, retraining, and professional development of teachers and specialists in the field of Inclusive and Special Education, the international scientific community, leaders and teachers from organizations providing inclusive, special, vocational, higher education, and supplementary education, leaders and specialists from education authorities, representatives of organizations promoting the employment of individuals with disabilities, doctoral students, master’s students, and students.

The main goal of the meeting was to promote the development of an inclusive educational environment and the social adaptation of individuals with disabilities through interdisciplinary and international dialogue.

Welcoming speech were made to the round table participants by Chairman of the Board – Vice rector scientific work and internationalization of Zhetysu university named after I. Zhansugurov A.S. Bahtaulova.

The speakers included the Federal State Budgetary Scientific Institution “Institute of Correctional Pedagogics”, Scientific Director of the Scientific Center for Cognitive Research of Sirius University, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Academician T.A. Solovieva; Director of the Inclusive Education Institute of BSPU named after M. Tank, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor V.V. Khitryuk; Vice-Rector of the Herzen Russian State Pedagogical University, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor Kobrina L.M.; General Director of the “SATR” Center, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor R.A. Suleimenova; Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Z.A. Professor Movkebayeva; Director of the National Scientific and Practical Center for Special and Inclusive Education, PhD L.A. Butabayeva; representatives of the NPJSC named after I. Altynsarin and others.

The discussion focused on current issues related to the development of inclusive and special education systems; the challenges of social adaptation for individuals with disabilities during the transition from education to employment; international and Kazakhstani experience in pre-vocational training for students with disabilities; and the training of teaching staff to implement special and inclusive education for children with disabilities.

Following the discussion, the participants adopted a resolution with recommendations aimed at developing inclusive policies, improving interdepartmental cooperation, and ensuring equal access to education, employment, and social adaptation for individuals with disabilities.

The organizers expressed confidence that such events contribute to the formation of a more inclusive and just society, where everyone, regardless of their physical abilities, has the right to a dignified life and active participation in public life.
