On October 22, 2025, the Faculty of Humanities of I. Zhansugurov Zhetysu University hosted an open lecture by Professor Dr. Peter Finke from the Department of Social Anthropology and Cultural Studies at the University of Zurich (Switzerland). The lecture was attended by the teaching staff of the Department of History and Social and Humanitarian Disciplines, as well as master’s students of the educational program 7M01601 – History.
During the lecture, the foreign scholar spoke about his scientific research and ongoing projects, providing detailed information about current academic trends and relevant international studies in the field of humanities and social sciences. Furthermore, Professor Peter Finke paid special attention to the contemporary directions of social anthropology and emphasized its importance in studying scientific issues related to Central Asia, including Kazakhstan.
Professor P. Finke also highlighted the significance of international scientific cooperation and encouraged master’s students and young researchers to take an active part in joint research projects. At the end of the meeting, participants asked the professor their questions and exchanged views.
