On 6 November 2025, as part of History Week titled “History: a Lesson from the Past, Guidance for the Future,” the Faculty of Humanities at Zhetysu University named after Ilyas Zhansugurov hosted an event in a distinctive format – a TED TALK style discussion. The initiative was organized jointly by the faculty members of the Department of History and Social-Humanitarian Disciplines and the students of the “History” educational programme.
The purpose of the event was to broaden students’ scholarly perspectives and create a space for open dialogue about new ideas and research approaches in the field of history. During the TED TALK session, participants shared their thoughts on contemporary trends in historical studies, digital humanities, the use of artificial intelligence in historical research, as well as new perspectives in interpreting national history.
Students delivered concise yet meaningful presentations and confidently conveyed their ideas. The department’s instructors praised their analytical abilities and creative approaches.
Such TED TALK-format gatherings not only enhance students’ academic interest but also provide valuable opportunities to develop their professional communication skills, critical thinking, and ability to express ideas freely.
