Between October 28 and November 11, 2025, field ethnographic research was conducted as part of the research project IRN AP26197965, “Everyday Life of Ethnic Repatriates in Post-Soviet Kazakhstan: Adaptive Strategies and Integration Practices (Case of the Zhetysu Region),” funded by the Committee of Science of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The fieldwork was carried out in the Karatal and Eskeldi districts, as well as in the city of Tekeli.
The research team included the project leader, Associate Professor of the Department of History and Social-Humanitarian Disciplines N.K. Baigabatova; lecturers M.E. Abdrakhim and V.T. Enseeva; and Acting Associate Professor of the Department of Kazakh Language and Literature A.M. Abyzova.

During the fieldwork, members of the research team conducted interviews with repatriates from China, Mongolia, and Uzbekistan residing in the designated areas, collecting data on their migration histories, everyday life, and adaptation experiences. Additionally, interviews were held with specialists from the internal policy departments of local akimats regarding issues of social integration of repatriates. As a result of the field study, significant empirical material was gathered, forming an important foundation for the project.
