On November 14, the faculty members of the Department of Kazakh Language and Literature at Zhetysu University named after I. Zhansugurov conducted a dictation session for university students as part of the national project «Ulttyq Diktant». The event aimed to expand the use of the state language, enhance students’ writing literacy, and strengthen the culture of written communication.
«Ulttyq Diktant» is a nationwide cultural and educational initiative designed to promote the status of the state language and improve citizens’ writing proficiency. This project emphasizes that literacy is not only an indicator of academic knowledge but also a reflection of civic responsibility and respect for the state language.
During the dictation, students demonstrated their understanding of Kazakh orthographic and punctuation norms and reinforced their writing skills in practice. According to the department’s faculty, such activities significantly contribute to the development of students’ language competence, increase motivation to learn the state language, and support the formation of writing culture.
The event was conducted at a high level and generated strong interest among students. The department plans to continue its systematic efforts aimed at promoting and developing the state language.
