Today, the Faculty of Humanities, Department of Journalism at Zhetysu University organised an academic competition on a ‘traditional subject’. Students in their second to fourth years studying Journalism and Public Relations took part. The competition consisted of three stages. In the first round, students presented themselves creatively. In the second part, Journalism students wrote an essay on the topic ‘Current Social Issues’ in one hour, while Public Relations students comprehensively outlined strategies for successfully overcoming crises for various companies. In the final stage, based on their homework assignment, journalism students had to shoot and defend a 1-3 minute video on the topic ‘A Day in the Life of a Journalist.’ Public relations specialists had to present and defend a photo report on the topic ‘A Day in the Life of a Public Relations Specialist.’ The young generation, which has succeeded among their peers, actively demonstrated their knowledge and creative talents. According to the results of the competition in the ‘Journalism’ category, Shyrin Askatkyzy took first place, Azamat Dauletbayev and Aida Ardykyzy shared second place, and Ospanuly Aruzhan, Balaaman Kadirseit and Akbota Muratkyzy shared third place. In the Public Relations category, Tomiris Aisaeva took first place, while Dariga Meliskanova and Asylzhan Toksanbaeva shared second place. Third place was shared by Omirbek Nurai, Ashy Tomiris and Nursultan Toktasin.
