

In the city of Almaty, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the All-Kazakhstan Student Projects and Research Competition (in the fields of artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, combating online fraud, fintech development and digital solutions in the financial sector) was held. (hereafter referred to as the ‘Competition’), organised by the Association of Banks of Kazakhstan. On behalf of the Zhetysu University named after I. Zhansugurov, the project ‘QorFin — a system for preventing financial fraud (website)’ was presented under the guidance of Turganbekova J.E., a PhD lecturer in the Department of State Management and Management, Faculty of Law and Economics. Project participant Kendebayeva Alua, a fourth-year student of the ‘State and Local Management’ speciality, conducted research and proposed a methodology for the prevention of financial fraud, while Shayzat Ermek, a third-year student of the ‘Information Systems’ speciality, developed the ‘QorFin’ website. The jury, consisting of employees of domestic and foreign banks, highly rated the relevance of the ‘QorFin’ system for the prevention of financial fraud (website) of the Zhetysu University. The competition, combining theory and practice, was attended by 23 teams from all regions of Kazakhstan. The students exchanged experiences, received participation and internship certificates, and received suggestions from the jury on how to improve the project.
To celebrate the competition, an excursion was held in the building of the former Supreme Soviet of the Kazakh SSR (Government House), now the Kazakh-British Technical University, to the office of D. A. Kunaev and the meeting rooms, which gave the participants a special feeling of inspiration.
