“THE LIGHT THAT NEVER FADES”

Recently, the Faculty of Humanities concluded the Week of Russian Language and Literature, organized by the staff of the Department of Russian Language and Literature (RLL). For five days, students tested their abilities in various contests and competitions. They demonstrated not only theoretical knowledge and practical skills in analyzing literary works, but also their ability to deeply feel a poetic text and convey the author’s thoughts to the audience.

The Week of Russian Language extended beyond the Faculty of Humanities. First-year students from the Kazakh division of other university specialties, who study Russian, took part in the essay contest on the topic “Knowledge of languages is the door to wisdom.” They also participated in a sociological survey titled “Do you like to read?”

The main participants of the intellectual and creative competitions were the groups of RLL and RLLNYAO. Students tried their strength in the intramural round of the Russian Language and Literature Olympiad and showcased their talents in the recitation contest “My Favorite Poem.”

According to the results of the Olympiad, the following students’ works deserve special mention: Stashkova Darya, Avdyminova Yasmin (RLLNYAO-122), Khojalakova Diana, Melisova Amina, Chalbaev Magdi (RLLNYAO-212), Moiseeva Darya, Sudarikova Elena (RLL-311), Vyatleva Ekaterina, Akulov Danil, Shvetsova Anna (RLL-321), Kuanjan Dilnaz, Velichko Viktoria, Yurtayeva Oksana (RLL-411).

There was also collective participation in competitions: each group presented its own version of a wall newspaper dedicated to the faculty celebration. The creative works of students from RLLNYAO-412 (1st place), RLL-321 (2nd place), and RLL-411 (3rd place) received special sympathy from readers and high praise from the jury.

The culmination of the Week of Russian Language and Literature was the recitation contest, for which both freshmen, graduates, and jury members prepared with excitement! The title of the contest “My Favorite Poem” implied a wide thematic range of artistic material. Under the arches of the festively decorated auditorium 129, poems were heard about poets and poetry, about hope and faith, about war and memory, about the earthly and the eternal. Yet above all, the invisible dominant theme was love – love for the Motherland, for life, for women, and for the poetic word.

Participants recited poems by A.S. Pushkin, M.Yu. Lermontov, V.Ya. Bryusov, A.A. Akhmatova, S.A. Yesenin, K. Simonov, A. Dementyev. The works of foreign authors were also widely represented – J.-P. Béranger, O. Wilde, Ch. Baudelaire, P. Verlaine, R.M. Rilke, and others.

The prize places among the participants of this contest were distributed as follows: third place went to fourth-year student Slamkhul Indira, second place was awarded to third-year student Akulov Danil, and the honorable first place was unanimously given to third-year student Pashaeva Valeria.

At the ceremonial closing of the Week of Russian Language and Literature, both teachers and students spoke, and the winners were awarded. The participants summed up the results, shared their emotions, and already voiced several ideas for organizing the next celebration of Russian Language and Literature, which will take place in a year.
