Reporting meeting of the chairman of the board – rector of NJSC “Zhetysu university named after I. Zhansugurov ” E. Buribayev to the public

Ermek Buribayev, Chairman of the Board – Rector of the Non-Profit Joint-Stock Company “Zhetysu University named after I. Zhansugurov,” presented a public report to the residents of the region on the outcomes of 2025.
The reporting meeting was attended by deputies of the regional and city maslikhats, city residents, and the academic community of Zhetysu University.

In the 2024–2025 academic year, Zhetysu University demonstrated steady development in the fields of education, science, and international cooperation. The university employs more than 800 faculty members, 51% of whom hold academic degrees. A total of 117 educational programs are being implemented, including new areas such as artificial intelligence, mountain and alpine ecology, economics, and management.
The number of students amounted to 5,809 in 2024 and increased to 6,401 in 2025. The graduate employment rate reached 89%.

The university achieved significant results in national and international rankings.
According to the 2025 institutional ranking conducted by the Independent Agency for Quality Assurance in Education (IQAA/NAOKO), Zhetysu University ranked among the top three multidisciplinary universities in the country. In the Atameken National Chamber of Entrepreneurs ranking, 10 educational programs entered the top ten. The university also improved its positions in the UI GreenMetric, QS Asia, and Times Higher Education rankings.

Zhetysu University has established partnerships with more than 85 foreign universities, including 15 institutions ranked within the global TOP 1000 according to international rankings.

Faculty researchers are implementing scientific projects and programs within the framework of grant-based and program-targeted funding, with a total volume exceeding 3.5 billion tenge.

Double-degree educational programs are actively being implemented at the university.
Within these programs, students pursue master’s studies at Altai State University, Pszczyna Linguistic and Technical University, Pomeranian University, and the University of Žilina, while bachelor’s students study at the University of Macerata.

A branch of the Polytechnic University of Marche (Italy) has been opened at Zhetysu University. Currently, 27 students are enrolled at the branch.

Enhancing youth civic engagement is one of the university’s key priorities.
Between 2023 and 2025, the number of youth organizations, volunteer movements, and sports and intellectual events increased significantly. University students became champions at regional, national, and international levels.

As part of infrastructure development, major renovation works were carried out in academic buildings, and new facilities were constructed with the support of sponsors.

The 2026 development plan focuses on expanding scientific research, creating an inclusive environment, introducing artificial intelligence and digital technologies, strengthening international cooperation, and improving the quality of student life.
