On February 20, 2025, a Kazakh Kuresi tournament for students—the Chairman of the Board–Rector’s Cup—was held at Zhetysu University named after I. Zhansugurov.
A total of 36 students took part in the traditional sporting event, competing in the 60 kg, 66 kg, 74 kg, 90 kg, and 90+ kg weight categories.
The Chief Referee of the tournament was Aidos Bedelbayev, a coach of the university sports club and Master of Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The aim of the competition was to promote a healthy lifestyle among students, enhance their athletic skills, and strengthen friendly and sporting ties between faculties.
Six teams participated in the tournament, representing all faculties of the university as well as Zhansugurov College.
Аccording to the results:
• 1st place was awarded to the Faculty of Law and Economics,
• 2nd place to the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics,
• 3rd place to the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Technology.
The winners were awarded the Chairman of the Board–Rector’s Cup.
