March 15 has taken a special place in the political life of the country as a new historic date. Just recently, the people of Kazakhstan made their choice by adopting a new Constitution through a nationwide referendum. This day became an important milestone that demonstrated the unity of the people and their responsibility for the future of the country.
On the day of the referendum, the staff and students of Zhetysu University named after Ilyas Zhansugurov also actively participated in the voting, clearly recognizing the significance of this historic moment. University students arrived at the polling stations wearing national costumes, which further enhanced the spiritual and historical significance of the day. The harmonious combination of national traditions and civic responsibility was truly inspiring.
Following the referendum, the Rector of the university, Yermek Buribayev, held a special meeting with the university community and congratulated the faculty members, staff, and students on the adoption of the new Constitution. In his speech, he emphasized that the referendum was conducted openly and fairly, noting the strong confidence of citizens in the future and their deep sense of patriotism toward the country.
“The Head of State, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, in his address regarding the adoption of the new Constitution, stated: ‘This is a historic decision adopted by the will of the people. The new Constitution will become an important step toward building a Just Kazakhstan.’ As the President emphasized, the new Constitution represents a significant stage in the democratic development of the country. This document will protect the rights and freedoms of every citizen and will serve as a solid foundation for the stable and just development of our state. Today, the unity and trust of the people remain the greatest wealth of our nation. Therefore, this historic decision is an important step toward a bright future for Kazakhstan,” the rector noted.
Legal scholars of Zhetysu University also presented their conclusions regarding the newly adopted Constitution, emphasizing that by adopting the new Basic Law, the state has made an important and responsible decision for its future development.
