Additional education program “Digital technologies in teaching primary school students with mental retardation”

From March 2 to March 14, 2026, the Center for Competencies and Complementary Education organized and conducted training for the additional educational program: “Digital Technologies in Teaching Primary School Students with Mental Retardation.”

The training program was developed by N.A. Naimanova, a doctoral student in the “8D01301–Pedagogy and Methodology of Primary Education” program at the Faculty of Pedagogy and Psychology. The content is based on the results of research conducted as part of her doctoral dissertation titled: “Preparation for the Use of Digital Technologies in Teaching Primary School Students with Mental Retardation.”

The training was attended by 3rd-year students of the “Pedagogy and Methodology of Primary Education” program who are interested in mastering modern approaches to organizing the educational process for children with special educational needs (SEN).

The program focused on developing professional competencies in utilizing digital tools when working with primary school students with mental retardation.

 During the course, participants:

– Explored current digital tools.

– Studied methods for adapting educational materials.

– Learned the specifics of psychological and pedagogical support for this category of learners.

Upon completion of the training, participants highlighted the practical significance of the program, its relevance to the current educational landscape, and the immediate applicability of the knowledge gained to their future professional careers.

The implementation of this program has contributed to the advancement of professional skills among future educators and increased their readiness to work within a modern digital educational environment.
