On April 7, 2026, at 15:00, a scientific seminar for doctoral students and faculty teaching staff was held at Zhetysu University named after I. Zhansugurov on the topic “Direct Submission of Articles to Scientific Journals in the Web of Science and Scopus Databases.”
The seminar speaker was Lazzat Karasholakova, Director of the Department of Science and Commercialization.
During the scientific seminar, participants were introduced to methods for selecting high-ranking journals indexed in Scopus and Web of Science databases. Special attention was given to key metrics such as journal quartiles (Q1–Q4), impact factor, and CiteScore.
In addition, the seminar covered the following important issues:
• identifying reliable scientific journals: methods for detecting predatory journals, checking official websites, and verifying indexing;
• the procedure for submitting an article;
• responding to reviewers’ comments and revising the manuscript;
• Open Access and article processing charges (APC).
