




On September 22, 2025, the China–Kazakhstan Rectors’ Forum was held in Almaty. The event brought together four leading universities of Sichuan Province (PRC), as well as a number of higher education institutions from Kazakhstan.
Within the framework of the forum, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Zhetysu University named after Ilyas Zhansugurov and Sichuan Normal University of the People’s Republic of China.
Chairman of the Board – Rector of Zhetysu University, Yermek Buribayev, and Rector of Sichuan Normal University, Zhao Guohua, discussed the development of joint double-degree programs, academic exchanges of students and faculty, as well as the implementation of collaborative research projects.
Yermek Buribayev emphasized that this cooperation continues the tradition of friendship established between the two countries, which is strengthening every year, with a particular focus on the joint advancement of education and science.
In turn, Rector of Sichuan Normal University, Mr. Zhao Guohua, expressed his readiness to implement joint projects in science, contribute to the training of future specialists, and support Kazakhstani students by providing them with educational scholarships within the framework of the memorandum.
Founded in 1896, Sichuan Normal University ranks among the top 30 universities in China. The university hosts over 55,000 students and employs more than 5,000 faculty and academic staff.
Sichuan Normal University offers undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral programs in mathematics, natural sciences, IT technologies, and pedagogy. In addition, the university annually allocates around 150 scholarships for students from Central Asian countries.
