


On February 19, 2026, at the Faculty of Natural and Technical Sciences of Zhetysu University named after I. Zhansugurov, a scientific and practical seminar was held in cooperation with the Methodological Center of the Department of Education of the Zhetysu Region on the topic: “Preparing Students for Geography Olympiads and Methods for Solving Problems.”
The seminar was attended by 32 school teachers from all districts of the Zhetysu Region, including Galyamzhan Tortbayuly Dikhanbayev, methodologist of the Methodological Center, and E.A. Tokpanov, Candidate of Geographical Sciences and Associate Professor.
During the scientific and practical seminar, the following presentations were delivered:
- G.T. Dikhanbayev, methodologist of the Methodological Center, presented a report titled “Preparation for Geography Olympiads as One of the Ways to Develop a Teacher’s Subject Competence”;
- M.A. Abayeva, geography teacher of the Specialized Regional Lyceum for Gifted Children named after M. Aryn, delivered a presentation on “Methods of Preparing Students for Geography Olympiads Based on STEAM Education”;
- E.A. Tokpanov, Candidate of Geographical Sciences and Associate Professor, presented on “Designing Geography Olympiad Tasks and Effective Methods for Solving Practical Problems”;
- Sh.R. Zhumagulieva, geography teacher of Secondary School No. 7 named after Ushinsky in Taldykorgan, delivered a report titled “Proposing Approaches to Solving Geography Olympiad Tasks and Problems for Students.”
The speakers provided school teachers with creative tasks at the levels of analysis, synthesis, evaluation, modeling, and forecasting, and also conducted a practical training session.
