Today, in the city of Taldykorgan, the volleyball competitions of the Eastern Division of the National Student League officially kicked off at the Zhetysu Volleyball Center.
The tournament, scheduled to run for three days, brings together teams from higher education institutions representing the Eastern Division. On the opening day, matches will be played between teams from Shakarim University, Sarsen Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University, Alikhan Bokeikhan University, Semey Medical University, and Zhetysu University named after Ilyas Zhansugurov.
During the opening ceremony, the Rector of Zhetysu University named after Ilyas Zhansugurov, Yermek Buribayev, delivered a welcoming speech and wished the participants success.
“I am confident that the competitions between universities will be filled with intense and exciting matches. This tournament provides young athletes with an excellent opportunity to strengthen their determination, gain valuable experience, and take a step toward professional sports,” the Rector noted.
Within the framework of the Student League of the Republic of Kazakhstan, competitions are held in seven different sports. The Eastern Division includes the regions of East Kazakhstan, Abai, Pavlodar, Zhetysu, and Ulytau, with sporting events being organized in stages across each region.
In the Zhetysu region, volleyball competitions among both men’s and women’s teams are hosted by Zhetysu University named after Ilyas Zhansugurov. The university’s sports infrastructure, along with the modern Zhetysu Volleyball Center, provides all the necessary conditions to conduct the tournament at a high level.
According to the head of the Eastern Division, Vice President of the East Kazakhstan Volleyball Federation and coach of the Kazakhstan national team, Symbat Tusipkhanuly, the teams that secure first, second, and third places in the Student League will qualify for the final stage of the competition.
