On April 8, 2026, as part of the “Science Decade” at Zhetysu University named after I. Zhansugurov, a scientific seminar was held in the field of cultural and social studies. The speaker was Gulzhan Doszhanova, a representative of the Institute of Ethnology and Central European and Balkan Studies at the Faculty of Philosophy, Charles University (Czech Republic). She shared her scientific experience in anthropology and ethnology and conducted a meaningful discussion with the participants.
The seminar was titled “The Transformation of Funeral Rituals and the Study of Informal Practices.” During the event, the processes of change in contemporary funeral traditions, their socio-cultural significance, and the role of informal practices in society were discussed comprehensively. The audience asked important scientific questions and exchanged views on the directions of contemporary anthropological research.
