Today Zhetysu university named after Ilyas Zhansugurov is a large regional university that combines classical principles with modern educational programs. The only higher educational institution in the Almaty region that provides three-level training (bachelor’s, master’s, PhD) in a wide range of specialties.
The university is developing as a multidisciplinary innovation-oriented Smart-university in the areas of education, science and upbringing. On the basis of the university, there is a research institute for problems of biotechnology, a department of science and commercialization of scientific projects, as well as research centers and laboratories of the university:
– Laboratory for biophysical monitoring of the geophysical environment;
– Scientific and educational center “Rukhani zhangyru”;
– Startup Academy;
– Scientific and practical center “Ilyastanu”;

– Greenhouse;
– Laboratory of Robotics and Mechatronics.
A flexible, client-oriented platform of the new generation Smart ZhetySU has been developed and is functioning, aimed at digitalization, automation, optimization of the main processes of the university’s activities via the Internet and from mobile applications. The research work of the university is based on applied and fundamental research and is aimed at integrating science and education. Within the framework of grant financing of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, scientific and (or) scientific and technical projects for 2020-2022, a scientific project dedicated to the study of the environment and sustainable development is being implemented at the university.
