Field Research Activities Conducted under the Project
From October 28 to November 11, 2025, field ethnographic research was carried out in the Karatal and Eskeldi districts and in the city of Tekeli within the framework of the research project IRN AP26197965 “Everyday Life of Ethnic Repatriates in Post-Soviet Kazakhstan: Adaptive Strategies and Integration Practices (A Case Study of the Zhetysu Region)”, funded by the Committee of Science of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The fieldwork involved the project leader, Associate Professor N.K. Baigabatova, senior researchers A.M. Abyzova and M.E. Abdrakhim, as well as junior researcher V.T. Enseeva. During the field research, members of the research team conducted interviews with repatriates residing in the above-mentioned areas who had arrived from China, Mongolia, and Uzbekistan. In-depth interviews were carried out focusing on their migration histories, everyday life, and adaptation experiences. In addition, interviews were organized with responsible specialists from the internal policy departments of local administrations regarding issues of social integration of repatriates. As a result of these activities, significant materials forming the empirical basis of the project were collected.
