Development of a methodology for the formation and development of mathematical literacy among schoolchildren in the context of PISA research (2023-2025)

          The main idea of the project is to develop a methodology for compiling assessment and training tasks and assignments for them, a methodology for teaching students to solve these tasks in the context of the PISA-2021 program concept. This project is aimed at researching the problems of developing the knowledge and thinking skills of schoolchildren within the framework of the OECD program concept “The Future of Education and Skills: Education 2030”.

Project objectives:

Development of methodological foundations for teaching schoolchildren to solve practice-oriented problems, the formation and development of their thinking skills in the context of PISA research.

This project is aimed at researching and solving the following problems:

– conducting a meaningful analysis of research works within the framework of the OECD (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development) program concept “The Future of Education and Skills: Education 2030”;

– conducting a comparative analysis of the work experience of mathematics teachers in the framework of the formation and development of mathematical literacy among schoolchildren;

– conducting a meaningful analysis of textbooks in mathematics in the context of the formation and development of mathematical literacy among schoolchildren;

– conducting an experimental study in order to identify emerging problems in teaching schoolchildren to solve practice-oriented problems in the context of the PISA-2021 program concept;

– establishing the type of practice-oriented task in accordance with mental activity, formulated in the program concept of PISA-2021;

– identifying signs of the formation of mathematical literacy of schoolchildren in the context of the PISA-2021 program concept;

– development of a method for reducing practice-oriented problems  to assessment-training mathematical assignment in the context of PISA examination assignments;

– development of assessment and training tasks and assignments of various types in accordance with the being formed thinking skills of the 21st century;

– choice (or development, or modification) of an innovative method of teaching schoolchildren to solve practice-oriented problems in the context of the PISA-2021 program concept;

– in the development of a methodology for the pedagogical measurement of the learning outcomes of schoolchildren in solving PISA assessment tasks as part of the criteria-based assessment of students’ educational achievements;

– training teachers of mathematics in methods of teaching schoolchildren to solve mathematical problems and assignments in the context of the PISA-2021 program concept

– carrying out experimental work to determine the effectiveness of the developed methodology for teaching 15-year-old of the schoolchildren to solve PISA tasks;

– mathematical processing of the results of experimental research;

– generalization of the results of the pilot study, development of conclusions and recommendations.
