On February 28, 2025, Gulzhan Muratkyzy Omarbekova, a lecturer at the Department of Foreign Languages and Translation Studies, conducted a competition lesson titled “Exciting Grammar” for students of groups ШТҚ 111 and ШТҚ 112 (IP) as part of the Practical English Grammar course. The main goal of the competition was to review previously covered material and enhance students’ communicative competence.
The competition consisted of five stages:
- In the first stage, students were divided into two teams, each presenting their team name, captain, and slogan.
- The second stage involved finding synonyms for words to determine the title of the competition lesson.
- In the third stage, students created a short story using present, past, and future tenses, as well as modal verbs and conditionals.
- The fourth stage focused on grammar-related tasks.
- The fifth and final stage was a debate.
During the competition, various digital platforms such as Flipity, Educaplay, and LearningApps were utilized. Additionally, AI-based tools like HoloClock, Socrative, and Genially were incorporated to enhance engagement. Each task was accompanied by descriptors, and the “dollar” method was used for assessment. As part of the encouragement method, students were rewarded with sweets.
The competition was both engaging and enjoyable, creating a dynamic and motivating learning environment for the students.
