The Center for Research on Special Education Issues officially opened

Today, the Center for Research on Special Education Issues officially opened at the Faculty of Pedagogy and Psychology of Zhetysu University named after I. Zhansugurov.

The center was established as part of the scientific project “Organizing Psychological and Pedagogical Support for the Specialized Training of Students with Disabilities,” led by Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor of Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University, Zulfia Movkebayeva.

The opening ceremony was attended by the Chairman of the Board — Rector Yermek Buribayev, who emphasized the center’s importance in organizing educational and developmental work with students who have special educational needs. The center is equipped with specialized tools and technologies designed to support children with visual, hearing, musculoskeletal, and other developmental impairments.

In addition to supporting students, the center plans to conduct applied research, develop theoretical and instructional-methodological materials in the fields of special pedagogy and psychology, and address various aspects of implementing special education.

As part of the center’s inauguration, a national roundtable discussion was held on the topic: “Special Education in the Republic of Kazakhstan: Experience and Development Trends.”

Presentations were delivered by Professor Z. Movkebayeva from KazNPU, Senior Lecturer M. Uvaliyeva, Director of the Sarkan Regional Special Boarding School No. 3 B. Sarsenbayeva, staff member of the Regional Boarding School for Children with Hearing Impairments K. Mukhametrakhimova, as well as Zhetysu University researchers in the field of inclusive education — G. Zholtayeva and B. Almakhambetova.
