The purpose of the scientific and practical center is:
Study of the work of the poet, writer, journalist, playwright, literary researcher, collector of oral heritage, public and cultural figure Ilyas Zhansugurov from a new perspective in the field of literary studies, linguistic and pedagogical direction.

The scientific and practical Center «Iliyastanu» was established in January 2007 by the decision of the Academic Council of the University. The center is actively working in accordance with the requirements of the state program «Madeni Mura», which was presented at the initiative of N.A.Nazarbayev.
The center was headed by honorary worker of education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, academician of the Republican Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Kazakhstan, doctor of philological sciences, professor Tursyn Sydykov. The scientific and practical Center «Ilyas Alemi» annually hosts the traditional Republican festival of student youth «Ilyas Alemi» and the scientific and practical conference «Zhansugurov tagylymy».
In 2012, the elective subject «Ilyas Studies» was introduced into the educational process of all specialties of Zhetysu State University named after Ilyas Zhansugurov.

Investigations of the poetics, language system and the artistic features of the writer's works;
Find unpublished, stolen works of the poet and meet with the reader;
Conducting textual studies of works written in the 20-30s of the XX century and distorted in accordance with the requirements of socialist ideology;
Development of a new methodological system for teaching the poet's work in schools, colleges, and higher educational institutions.
