Terrorism: a threat to modern society and a way to combat it

A curatorial hour on the topic “Prevention of hazards and mitigation of consequences” was held at the Ilyas Zhansugirov Zhetysu University for students of the ZHK-212 group of the Faculty of Journalism.

The purpose of the meeting is to teach students how to act in the event of terrorism or at the sight of a terrorist with a cold weapon, to take appropriate measures without succumbing to panic.

One of the global problems in the world history of the XXI century is terrorism. Terrorism is currently considered not only as one of the actual crimes in the legal sense, but also as a social and ideological problem. Because terrorists can successfully exploit economic and social tensions, religious fanaticism and separatist interests. Today’s terrorism is international in nature, gaining momentum for individual States or a certain territory, threatening the lives of innocent people and undermining the political and social stability of the country.

Terrorism means creating fear in society, creating fear among a group or Government, thereby forcing them to take certain actions or decisions. The meeting, where this topic was discussed in detail, made it clear through video that terrorism is the most urgent and dangerous problem in modern society. Fighting it is the responsibility of all members of society, not just law enforcement agencies. Therefore, if you notice a suspicious person in public places, educational institutions or in open spaces, you should immediately inform the appropriate specialists and prevent a tragedy.

In order for our world to be peaceful, everyone must cooperate with the competent authorities. Every student is ready to make a great contribution to his Homeland, striving to get a high-quality education and grow up to be a moral citizen. May our sky be open and our country be peaceful!
