International Scientific and practical Conference
«Slowbalization, Regionalism, New Challenges»

September 20-21, 2024, the International Scientific and Practical Conference, «Slowbalization, Regionalism, and New Challenges» was held on the basis of Zhetysu University named after I.Zhansugurov. This conference is organized under the BR21882364 program, «Imperatives of development of Kazakhstan in the Eurasian integration amid challenges and ruptures in the world architectonics», funded by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The conference was held in 5 directions:

  1. Globalization and Slowbalization: Economic and Social Perspectives
  2. Eurasian Integration and National Economies: Development Imperatives and Transit Potential
  3. Fragmentation of the Global Economy: Diffusion of Logistics and Value Chains
  4. The New Wave of Regionalization Amid Global Challenges and Shifts
  5. Energy Transition: Policy or Reality?

The conference began with a welcoming speech by Deputy Akim of Zhetisu Marlen Kolbaev and Chairman of the Board – Rector of Zhetysu University named after Ilyas Zhansugurov, Doctor of Law, Professor Yermek Buribaev.

The conference was held with the participation of reputable domestic and foreign scientists, representatives of government bodies and higher education. Alexander Shirov (Institute of National Economic Forecasting of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Moscow, Russia), Leonid Vardomsky (Post-Soviet Studies Center at the Institute of Economics Institute of Economics of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Moscow, Russia), Boris  Kheyfets (Institute of Economics of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Moscow, Russia), Yuriy Scherbanin (Institute of Economic Forecasting of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Moscow, Russia), Valery Semikashev (Laboratory for Analysis and Forecasting of Transport and Logistics System, of Institute of Economic Forecasting of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Moscow, Russia), Askar Sarygulov (Center for Fundamental Research on Development Processes, Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, St. Petersburg, Russia), Ayapbergen Taubaev (Esil University, Astana, Kazakhstan), Bulat Khusainov (Academician of the Kazakh National Academy of Natural Sciences, Taldykorgan, Kazakhstan), Tessaleno Devezas (Atlantica University, Portugal), Anvar Amar (Shannon School of Business, Cape Breton University, Sydney, Canada).

The work of the conference was continued in the framework of breakout sessions.

Following the results of the conference, a collection of articles of the International Scientific and Practical Conference, «Slowbalization, Regionalism, and New Challenges» will be published.
