As part of the project “An Integrative Study of Gambling Addiction in Kazakhstan and Multidisciplinary Strategies for Its Reduction”, a podcast titled “Preventing Gambling Addiction among Youth” was held in the university’s television studio.
The discussion featured Bolat Seriyev, Doctor of Law, Professor, and Vice-Rector for Social Work and Youth Policy; university psychologist Gulnara Islamzhanova; and psychiatrist Beibit Mustafa from the Regional Mental Health Center.
During the conversation, the speakers highlighted the growing problem of gambling addiction and related dependencies among young people. Although gambling and betting may appear to be harmless entertainment, they can cause serious harm to an individual’s health and future.
The studio guests provided comprehensive answers to the question of how gambling addiction among youth can be prevented. They emphasized that the university has a functioning psychological service, which is always ready to support students.
