On September 10, 2025, Zhetysu University named after Ilyas Zhansugurov welcomed English Language Fellow volunteer teacher Ms. Bronwyn Schieber.
From September 2025 to July 2026, she will conduct English language classes, lead methodological workshops for faculty, and participate in cultural and educational projects.
The program is implemented with the support of the U.S. Department of State in partnership with Georgetown University.
The Chairman of the Board – Rector of Zhetysu University, Mr. Yermek Buribayev, warmly welcomed representatives of the U.S. Consulate General – Public Diplomacy Press Attaché Ingrid Korsgard, Public Diplomacy Specialist Zhanna Toktarova, as well as the invited English Language Fellow teacher Ms. Bronwyn Schieber.
The initiative to participate in the program came from the Faculty of Humanities, specifically the Department of Foreign Languages and Translation Studies, which successfully passed the competitive selection and gained the opportunity to host a volunteer teacher for one academic year. The project was led by the Head of Department of Foreign Languages and Translation Studies PhD Dinara Zhabykbayeva and Lecturer Samal Dyussebayeva, whose efforts enabled the university to join this prestigious international program.
The event was also attended by Mr. Aibek Kenzhebayev, Deputy Director of the Methodological Center of the Zhetysu Regional Department of Education, who emphasized that cooperation would contribute to high-quality training of English teachers.
The arrival of the volunteer teacher is an important milestone for both the university and the region. This initiative strengthens international cooperation, provides new opportunities for students and faculty in mastering English and academic communication, and supports the development of methodological resources and innovative approaches.
