At the initiative of the Jetisy jastary organization, students of Zhetysu University took part in a meeting with the officers of the Zhetysu Regional Police Department as part of the “Cyber Volunteer” project.
The purpose of the event was to foster a culture of safe online behavior among young people, promote preventive measures against cybercrime, and enhance digital literacy in the field of cybersecurity.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Head of the Cybercrime Counteraction Department of the Police, Police Captain Serik Demeyov, Head of the 1st Department of the Regional Prosecutor’s Office Alisher Baraev, and Senior Assistant to the Regional Prosecutor Toleugali Sarsembayev.
Experts provided students with a detailed overview of newly emerging types of internet fraud, explaining the schemes used by cybercriminals and illustrating them with practical examples.
“Fraudsters send fake documents about traffic violations to email and messenger accounts. These documents contain drivers’ personal information, vehicle numbers, and a link to ‘pay a fine.’ In reality, this is a phishing attack — under no circumstances should you click the link,” the experts emphasized.
Police officers also warned young people about droppers and answered their questions. Students noted that in case of encountering fraudulent activities, they should immediately contact law enforcement authorities.
