Today, Zhansugurov College held an awareness campaign titled “Say No to Drugs!”, aimed at promoting a healthy lifestyle and fostering resilience against drug addiction among young people.
The event was attended by Bolat Seriyev, Member of the Board and Vice-Rector for Social Affairs and Youth Policy; Meruert Iskakova, Police Lieutenant Colonel and Senior Officer of the Department for Combating Drug-Related Crimes of the Zhetysu Region Police Department; as well as college faculty and students.
In his address, Bolat Seriyev emphasized the importance of nurturing in young people a conscious commitment to a healthy and meaningful life.
“Drugs are a tragedy that destroys a person’s future and poses a serious threat to society. Every young individual must take responsibility for their own life and make the choice in favor of health,” the Vice-Rector stated.
In turn, Meruert Iskakova noted that the number of drug-related crimes among youth in the Zhetysu region remains high, underlining the ongoing relevance and urgency of this issue for society as a whole.
As part of the campaign, students took to the streets with posters carrying messages such as “We Are Against Drugs!”, “Stay Away from Drugs!”, “Choose Life!”, and “A Healthy Lifestyle Is Your Choice!”—thus expressing their strong civic stance.
Active students who performed creative pieces promoting a drug-free lifestyle were awarded special gifts from the Zhetysu Region Police Department.
