From October 25 to 30, 2025, in Manama, the capital of Bahrain, the Asian Junior Weightlifting Championship took place.
Alikhan Askerbay, a student of the Faculty of Physical Culture and Art at I. Zhansugurov Zhetysu University, achieved outstanding success.
Askerbay lifted 172 kg, setting new world, Asian, and Asian Games records among juniors.
◾ In the snatch — 144 kg, which became a new junior world record.
◾ He also excelled in the clean and jerk, becoming champion in both disciplines. ◾ Competing in the 71 kg weight category, he won two gold medals.
Throughout the competition, Alikhan Askerbay set a total of six new records.
