On November 14, in the university conference hall, a creative meeting of students and faculty of the Faculty of Humanities was held, dedicated to the 190th anniversary of the famous Kazakh scholar and educator Chokan Valikhanov. The creative meeting was organized by the Representative Office of Rossotrudnichestvo in the Republic of Kazakhstan within the framework of the activities of the Center for Open Education for Teaching the Russian Language, which was opened at Zhansugurov University together with the Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution of Higher Education “Korolenko State Pedagogical University” with the support of the “My History” Foundation for the Support of Humanitarian Sciences and the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation.
The rector of the university, Doctor of Law, Professor Yermek Abiltayevich Buribayev, delivered a welcoming speech to the participants of the event. Reports on the life and work of Chokan Valikhanov were presented by: Maria Sergeyevna Simakova, Representative of Rossotrudnichestvo in the Republic of Kazakhstan, Vice-Consul of the Russian Federation; Ismailzhan Abdykadyrovich Iminov, member of the Writers’ Union of Kazakhstan, member of the Kazakhstan National Geographic Society, member of the International Kazakh PEN Club, participant of the expedition to Kashgar organized by Almaty Management University (AlmaU) and Turan TV; Roman Beydalievich Botabekov, General Director of Turan TV; and Maral Oralbekkyzy Rakhatova, Head of the branch of the Sh. Valikhanov Memorial Museum “Altynemel.”
In the university foyer, a traveling exhibition was organized, featuring Chokan Valikhanov’s personal belongings, photographs (copies), traditional Kazakh tableware of the 19th century, musical instruments, and hunting tools.
The creative meeting aroused great interest among students and faculty.
