UNIVPM – Zhetysu University Collaboration

On 17 November 2025, a delegation from Zhetysu University named after Ilyas Zhansugurov, led by Rector Yermek Abiltayevich Buribayev, paid an official visit to the Marche Polytechnic University (UNIVPM). The first day began with a meeting with Professor Davide Neri, Dean of the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences; Bruno Mezzetti, Coordinator of the Double-Degree Program; Professor Francesco Solfanelli, Coordinator of the Educational Programs in Agricultural Sciences and Technologies; and Alessandra Andreskiani, Specialist at the International Relations Office.

The current stage of cooperation between the two universities is focused on addressing specific issues, including expanding the number of double-degree programs, organizing the learning process for Zhetysu University students in the Italian university more effectively, ensuring quality from both sides, and implementing joint scientific projects involving faculty members.

According to the plans, as early as the next academic year, students of Zhetysu University will complete their final courses of study at UNIVPM, take examinations, and undergo practical training at the university’s facilities. They will become the first cohort to receive a double degree. This will also create conditions for launching additional joint educational programs.

UNIVPM bases the development of the agricultural sector on the results of scientific research, designs educational programs in line with market needs, and trains specialists in cooperation with employers. It also provides opportunities for international students to study courses in biotechnology, engineering, genomics, and artificial intelligence. This experience is extremely important for Zhetysu University, as our primary mission is to train competitive specialists for the Zhetysu region and Kazakhstan as a whole. Currently, UNIVPM implements double-degree programs in agriculture in cooperation with France, Hungary, and Croatia.

The delegation members visited UNIVPM’s experimental farm, where they became acquainted with modern technological solutions used in the cultivation of fruits and agricultural crops. Special attention was drawn to the fact that about 300 fruit genotypes developed in the university’s laboratories are preserved and grown on this farm. The Marche Polytechnic University expressed its readiness to continue strengthening friendly relations and academic cooperation with Zhetysu University.
