Today, Zhetysu University named after I. Zhansugurov hosted a foresight conference titled “Data-Driven Decision-Making in the Agro-Industrial Complex: Practical Cases.”
The event brought together leading international and domestic agricultural scientists, heads of farming enterprises, agrosector specialists, media representatives, and students.
Distinguished international speakers delivered insightful presentations on modern agrotechnologies, sustainable plant disease management, genomics, and digital innovations in agriculture.
For instance, Simone Piancatelli, Doctor of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences at the Marche Polytechnic University (Italy), provided extensive information on sustainable plant disease control methods using basic substances and natural compounds.
Meanwhile, PhD Rasheed Awais, representing the joint research center of CIMMYT and Shandong Agricultural University (China, Tai’an), introduced new directions in wheat genomics aimed at enhancing nutritional quality and contributing to human health.
Domestic scientists also offered an in-depth analysis of pressing issues in the agrosector. Professor Meruert Kurmanbayeva, Doctor of Biological Sciences and Dean of the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology at Al-Farabi KazNU, along with PhD Aigerim Bakirova, lecturer at the Department of Ecology and Agricultural Sciences of the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Engineering, delivered compelling reports on plant stress physiology and methods to increase resilience through exogenous treatments.
In addition, Ahmet Kydyrali, software engineer at the Robotics and Mechatronics Laboratory of the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics, demonstrated the application prospects of one of the cutting-edge digital solutions in the agro-industrial complex — AgroDron technology.
During the event, Askar Sharipov, Chairman of the Farmers’ Union of Zhetysu Region, emphasized that over 75% of the country’s lands face a high level of degradation, stressing the importance of such practice-oriented conferences for the development of the agrosector.
The foresight conference provided strong momentum for advancing new technologies in agriculture and strengthening international cooperation.
