










An Italian delegation led by Aniello Petito, Deputy Head of the Mission of Italy to Kazakhstan, arrived at Zhetysu University named after Ilyas Zhansugurov .
As part of the visit, the cultural event “Italian Cuisine Week” was held, bringing together representatives of the diplomatic corps, international organizations, foreign universities, and the Kazakhstani academic community.
The event was attended by scholars from the Marche Polytechnic University, the University of Camerino (Italy), and Shandong Agricultural University (China). University Rector Yermek Buribayev delivered a welcoming address, emphasizing the importance of strengthening cultural and educational ties with Italy.
Maurizio Aronica, President of the UN Sustainable Development Fund, presented a report titled “From Tradition to Innovation: Sustainability Connecting Italian and Kazakh Food Cultures,” highlighting the potential for bilateral cooperation in developing sustainable food systems.
As part of the official program, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Zhetysu University and the UN Sustainable Development Fund.
Aniello Petito, Deputy Head of the Mission of Italy, expressed support for expanding cooperation in the fields of culture and education.
International guests and participants attended lectures addressing current issues in sustainable agriculture and food security. Gianluca Brunetti delivered a lecture on “Food Security and Product Quality,” Simone Piancatelli presented “Sustainable Solutions for Managing Post-Harvest Diseases,” and Kanat Yermekbayev spoke on “Enhancing Central Asian Wheat through Genomic, Molecular, and Accelerated Breeding Methods.”
As part of the cultural program, instructors and students of the “Aldo Moro” Center held a culinary master class on traditional Italian cuisine. Participants learned classic recipes, preparation techniques, and explored the rich gastronomic heritage of Italy.
