“Learning the Rules of Togyz Kumalak” Course

From December 8 to December 20, 2025, the Center for Competencies and Complementary Education, as part of the “Asyl Kazyna University” project, organized a training program titled “Learning the Rules of Togyz Kumalak” for university employees aged 50 and over.

Togyz Kumalak is an ancient Kazakh intellectual board game belonging to the Mancala family. It is often referred to as the “Chess of the Steppe” due to its deep strategic complexity and required precision in calculation. The game is renowned for its mathematical difficulty, which helps develop logic and strategic thinking.

The game holds significant cultural value: it is featured in folklore, practiced as a competitive art, and included in international tournaments.

The training was conducted by Dauletkerey Mulik, Deputy Dean for Educational Work at the Faculty of Humanities.
