Teacher-assistant of the Department of Natural Sciences of the Faculty of Natural Sciences Tokpaev K. M. held a seminar on the topic “formation of research competence of students in the process of teaching biology”.
The purpose of the seminar: the formation of research competence of students in the process of teaching biology – the development of their scientific worldview, improving the skills of independent study, analysis and conclusion of biological phenomena and processes, combining theoretical knowledge with practice through practical work, as well as the development of critical thinking, creative and scientific search abilities.
During the seminar, the importance of the formation of research competence of students in teaching biology was considered in detail. It is noted that in the modern education system, a learner should be formed not only as a receiver of ready-made information, but also as a person who can independently search, analyze and draw scientific conclusions.
The seminar discussed the concept of research competence, its structural components (cognitive, practical, reflexive) and ways of their development. The participants noted the effectiveness of Problem-Based Learning, Project method, experimental work and Field Research in the formation of research skills of students.
In addition, specific methods of organizing research activities were proposed in biology lessons:
compilation of research questions;
put forward a hypothesis;
control and conduct an experiment;
processing and analysis of the received data;
making scientific conclusions.
During the seminar, it was noted that the use of modern pedagogical technologies (digital resources, interactive platforms, virtual laboratories) is also of particular importance. These tools increase the interest of students and increase their research activity.
In conclusion, it was established that the formation of research competence of students is one of the main directions of improving the quality of teaching biology. Systematic work in this direction develops critical thinking of students, forms their scientific worldview and allows them to acquire the skills necessary for their future professional activities.
As a result of the seminar, the participants came to a common decision on the need to widely introduce research training, exchange experience and strengthen methodological support.
